Cannot access the Members Only section of the web site

If you cannot access the Members Only section of the web site, there are several possible reasons:

  • You may not be using the correct username and password (all lower case letters) - if you cannot remember your username and password, click here and we will send you the information
  • There could be a problem with your Internet Explorer.  Microsoft's latest update to version 7 has an error which may not allow you to log on to protected areas of a web site.  This will probably be corrected at some point by a security update.  You can check whether you have version 7 by clicking on "Help" at the top of this screen, then click "About Internet Explorer."  If you have version 7 and cannot sign on, click here and we will send you the solution.

How to access the ATC Directory with a MAC computer

The ATC Directory Software will not run on a MAC, but is available for MAC users in a Rich Text File format, which can be opened and viewed by virtually any Word Processor (Wordpad, Microsoft Word, Word Perfect, or any other word processor capable of displaying RTF files).  The directory is also abailable in Adobe Acrobat (PDF) format.  These files can be used by both Mac and Windows users, and are identical in format to the printed directory.  The RTF and PDF files are available on the right side of the software download page.  Click here if you need access.

Cannot update the ATC Directory

To update your Directory with the latest information, click the "Update Directory" button on the main screen.
If you are having difficulty updating your directory, there could be several possible reasons:

  • You may not be connected to the Internet.  Make sure you are connected.
  • You do not have the 2008 version of the software. Click here to request installation instructions.
  • Your firewall may be preventing access.  Please see below.

Firewall Problems

Windows XP, Vista, and most anti-virus programs (Norton and McAfee) have a built-in firewall.  In order to use the ATC update with a firewall, you may have to either turn it off or configure it to work with the ATC software.

To temporarily turn off the Windows firewall:

  1. Click on Start
  2. Click on Control Panel
  3. Click on Security Center, then click on Windows Firewall
  4. On the General tab, select the Off button
  5. Click OK

To configure the Windows firewall to work with the ATC program:

  1. Click Start and then click Control Panel.
  2. In the control panel, click Security Center, and then click Windows Firewall.
  3. Click on the Exceptions tab.
  4. Click Add Program.
  5. In the Add a Program dialog box click Browse.
  6. Navigate to the C:\ATC folder
  7. Double-click on the ATC.EXE program (globe icon).
  8. The ATC program will appear under Programs, in the Add a Program dialog box.
  9. Select and add the ATC program.
If you have Norton or McAfee anti-virus, then you need to either shut it off or configure it to allow access for ATC.  For Norton:
  1. Double-click on the Norton icon in your task bar at bottom right
  2. When it opens, click on "Personal Firewall", then click "Turn Off"
  3. If you want to configure it instead, click "Configure", then "Program Control", then "Add" - type in "c:\atc\atc.exe" and click OK.  Set the level to "Permit All"
McAfee works about the same way.

Just remember, if you turn off your firewall to do the update, you have to turn it back on afterwards to fully protect your computer from hackers and such.
