As Guests:
They couldn't have been more thoughtful.
Sent us home with lemons, oranges and grapefruit from their back yard trees,
plus turkey sandwiches, soda, yogurt and grapes packed for lunch on our
long drive home.
Tom and Mary Ann C., South
Carolina
Invited us to a Sons of Norway
potluck dinner. Food was outstanding and fun people!
Don and Lorene C., California
She has to be the "hostess with
the mostest". Took Jim to the airport while I did my hair; made maps;
got me a great seat reservation for a musical; wonderful breakfast; and
has everything in the guest apartment labeled that a guest might ask for.
Jim and Cherie S., New York
Becky served us a Kentucky dinner
that was quite a treat. Excellent visit!
Pat and Donna M., Virginia
It is inspiring to think that
people in their eighties are still interested in entertaining guests in
their home. Robert and Sally are full of interesting stories to tell
of their travels. Their house is tucked away from the crowds in a
tranquil setting.
Neill and Barbara S., California
Jane is a very gracious hostess.
Her home, on the second floor of an apartment building, is artfully decorated
and located overlooking an inlet of the harbor. She is an interesting,
warm person.
Hank and Nancy B., New Mexico
As Hosts
Have always had a great time with
ATC people. We are heading to Australia and New Zealand next week
and hope to stay with members there.
George and Karen C., California
Finally, our first guests!
A delightful couple who share our love of jazz--we enjoyed each other's
CD's.
John and Pat V., Florida
They were on a 100 day trek from
California to Canada and back just after retirement--a nice, active couple!
Thurston and Barbara H.,
Canada
We enjoyed their stay here very
much--good company and very considerate.
Colin and Margaret C., England
Lovely, lovely folks! It
turns out Tom and I both attended the same junior high school in Denver--earlier
this century.
Bill and Colleen H., Ohio
An extremely lovely couple whom
we were happy to host. We now consider them as friends.
Ralph and Sally K., South
Africa
I found that I picked up more than I planned as an Affordable Travel Club guest this year. No need to double check the silver chest or art collection, I'm referring to the extras that we received from some wonderfully generous hosts: that apple cake recipe, the chocolates on the pillow, the wool wax creme, the spaghetti dinner, a new way of looking at Fate's cards, the muscle relaxants after a day of over-exertion, the travel tips, the sharing of books, music, gardens (the snapdragons transplanted splendidly!), the good laughter and new friendships. Such a long list for a half dozen nights out!
Now back home, I have been nourished
by Footsteps: One at a Time, "Family Living and Learning Before
the Age of Analysis." The author, Phyllis Miletich, draws upon 52
years of marriage and a household of 5 children as she polishes insights.
I am grateful to Betty S. for sending the book my way and I intend to pack
it for our next venture forth and hope that our next host will also find
it a jewel and keep it traveling the Affordable Travel circuit.
Flo H., Washington State
